Voices Rock, Denver’s Original Rock Choir, Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary

(Denver, COLO. – June 18, 2024) – Denver’s original and longest standing rock choir Voices Rock is thrilled to celebrate its 10-year anniversary this year. Since the choir’s inception in 2014, Voices Rock is proud to have grown its original group into four adult choirs and one children’s choir with over 400 singers throughout the Denver metropolitan area. With a focus on pop, rock, and musical theater, Voices Rock singers rehearse and perform songs that span the decades.

Voices Rock was founded as a non-audition choir with the goal of building community through the arts. “We’ve created an amazing network of people who come to sing but stay for the community, people who value not only the music and the experience but what this community means to them,” said Jill Teas, Co-Founder and Musical Director of Voices Rock. “The goal is to provide an extraordinary experience for ordinary people.”

The last decade has held an array of achievements from the grassroots organization. The choir made historic efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic as the first choir in the area to go virtual before eventually moving outside for one full year in order to safely rehearse and perform. VR2, Voices Rock’s children’s choir, was established to fill the gap created by funding cuts for school arts programs, providing a safe and welcoming singing environment for students from third through eighth grade. Above all, Voices Rock has remained committed to never turning away a singer for financial reasons or any other. With singers as young as 19 and as old as 93, of all races, gender identities, and neurodiversity, Voices Rock is steadfast in its mission of promoting community for all.

Notable performances from the choir have included multiple shows at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre and national anthem performances at Colorado Rockies games. Voices Rock prioritizes community engagement and has performed at Mothers Against Drunk Driving fundraisers, AIDS Walk and Run Colorado, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, The Wild Animal Sanctuary, and local senior living centers.

Voices Rock will be celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a special performance of the national anthem at the Colorado Rockies vs. Washington Nationals game at Coors Field on Saturday, June 22, as well as a 10-year anniversary concert at Newman Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, November 16, with shows at 5:30 and 7:30 pm.

Voices Rock is honored to welcome its outstanding group of current and future singers to continue creating art and fostering community in its 10th year and beyond. For more information about Voices Rock, please visit www.voicesrockdenver.com or contact Jill Teas at jill@voicesrock.com.
