Reasons to join Voices Rock Gig Harbor:
- Singing pop and rock hits you know and love in a choral setting is good for the mind, body and soul
- Make new friends in your community (this is more than a choir — at Voices Rock we value social time and getting to know each other outside of rehearsal)
- You’ll love the music. While we never reveal it before the first rehearsal, just know there’s something for everyone!
Get to Know Your Director: Jarred VandenBosch
Jarred has been involved with music for as long as he can remember. He is originally from Miami, Florida, and his first music teacher was his abuelita, who had been a piano teacher in Cuba. He began singing in elementary school and involved himself with choir at school, with the Miami Children’s Chorus, and with the Florida Grand Opera. He studied Choral Music Education at the Florida State University while his family moved across the country to Seattle, Washington. After finishing school and settling into his home, Jarred began teaching elementary music for North Thurston Public Schools. There, he started the school’s first-ever choir, the Bobcat singers. He also works at Olympia Youth Chorus as the director for the Bel Canto choir.
He is so excited to be involved with Voices Rock because he believes that anyone can sing and should sing. He also believes that it is never too late to begin your music education, and that anyone is welcome to sing!
