(Denver, August 13, 2025) — Non-audition community rock choir Voices Rock announced today the opening of two new choirs in Seattle and Tacoma. After successfully launching its first choir outside of Colorado in Portland in April, the announcement marks exciting further expansion into the Pacific Northwest for the Denver-based company. Both Washington locations will open with ten-week sessions, with Seattle starting Sept. 16 and Tacoma starting Sept. 17. Registration opens Monday to everyone who loves to sing.
“We are thrilled to bring our model to new cities in the Pacific Northwest,” said Jill Teas, Voices Rock’s founder and artistic director. “Voices Rock gives people an outlet to be part of an amazing music ensemble, whether or not they have a formal music background. Our only requirement is a love of singing, and we find that even though the music is what draws people in at first, the community we build in each choir is what keeps them coming back.”
Voices Rock Seattle will be directed by Nicole Maramba, a passionate choral educator and conductor who has worked with singers of all ages and currently leads choirs in both school and community settings. Voices Rock Tacoma will be directed by Jason Brinker, a choir director and music educator of over 20 years and a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at Boston University. Both conductors will lead their choirs through fan-favorite rock and pop songs in three-part harmony, culminating in final performances with full band accompaniment, dates and locations to be announced. No experience is necessary to join Voices Rock choirs, which are welcoming to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
“One thing I love about Voices Rock is that all our groups work on the same music on the same schedule,” said Clara Shelton, executive director of Voices Rock. “Singers are free to jump into another rehearsal and get the same experience, so it’s exciting to be able to open Seattle and Tacoma at the same time, and I look forward to seeing what these groups will do together.”
A woman-owned and -operated company, Voices Rock has been dedicated to serving its local communities and uniting people through song since 2014. The choir has seen significant growth in the last year, with 14 choirs now operating across Colorado, Oregon, and Washington, and a Tucson location opening early next year.
More information on how to join a Voices Rock choir is available on its website – find specific details on the Seattle page and the Tacoma page. Members pay dues per session, and scholarships are available for anyone who expresses a need. Follow Voices Rock on Instagram to stay connected.
